Bromley & Sheppard’s Colleges £1 million Appeal – a review by the Appeal Director

It has been an interesting exercise to look back at my time as the Appeal Director for Bromley & Sheppard’s Colleges.  I had forgotten the amount of people who had so generously given their time and money to make the Appeal a success and I am extremely grateful for this chance to thank them all for their unfailing generosity.

To be asked to be the Appeal Director for Bromley & Sheppard’s Colleges and raise £1million for the refurbishment and restoration of Grade 1 & Grade 2 listed buildings could be considered a daunting task.  However, thanks to the dedication and encouragement of an Action Group (Steering Committee), the refurbishment part of the Appeal was a success and almost £750,000 was raised to upgrade the accommodation.

The restoration of the College walls turned out to be a much bigger project than was originally imagined but I am sure the work will eventually be carried out when necessary. I would, however, like to thank The Heritage of London Trust for their support with this project.

Listed below, are some of those who donated to the Appeal. I have respected the wishes of those who made donations but wished to remain anonymous and my sincerest apologies to those who made a donation but whom I have forgotten to include.

The first Action Group meeting was on 14 October 2003 and at that time; the original members discussed the complexity and difficulties of running an Appeal of this size for an almost unknown Christian Charity. Over two years later, it was agreed that, with God’s help, an awful lot had been achieved.

So much thanks must go to the Action Group members, the Collegians and other supporters who gave unstintingly of their time and expertise but most of all, thanks be to God for rewarding our efforts so that the appeal’s ambitions could be achieved”.
